Watch Our Story

Our Philosophy

We live in a saha world, a defiled age, where humanity tends to be consumed by the poisons of greed, anger, and foolishness. We have lived recklessly, without a thought of what impact our actions will have on future generations & our beautiful blue, life-sustaining planet.

Our Vision & Purpose

The universe has been sending us alarms, as we witness global warming, depletion of valuable resources of soil & water, pollution of the air we breathe, earthquakes, forest fires, floods, and the creation of mountains of plastics. It is time for us to awaken to our responsibility as global citizens to save our planet and contribute in our own small way to its betterment—for our sake, our children, grandchildren, and future generations.

We, at Food for Life Trust, understanding our responsibility as global citizens, have adopted some of the Sustainability Development Goals of the UN and have started working on them in our own humble way.

  • Nearly one in 10 people in the world are exposed to severe levels of food insecurity.
  • Nearly 2 billion people globally lack access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.
  • If trends continue, hunger will affect 840 million people by 2030—9.8% of the world.
  • Hunger kills more than AIDS, Malaria, TB, or any other disease.

Our Mission

We are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and actively work toward:

  • Eradicating poverty through sustainable livelihoods.
  • Ending hunger with 10,000 daily meals.
  • Promoting health with nutritious diets.
  • Enhancing education through nourishment.
  • Ensuring gender equality in opportunities.
  • Empowering women with meaningful work.
  • Advocating for clean water access.
  • Creating decent work for all.
  • Fighting climate change with action.

Hunger Relief & Women Empowerment

Keeping in mind that hunger and malnutrition trap people in poverty, our fundamental mission at Food for Life is to provide hygienic, nutritious, home-cooked meals to those suffering. To empower women and provide them with occupation, we offer opportunities to cook healthy, non-spicy, nutritious meals in their kitchens. Our aim is to provide meals to 5,000 children and adults a day, scaling to 10,000 lives daily.

Environmental Initiatives

Plastic Recycling

Plastic recycling is crucial for mitigating the devastating impact of plastic waste on our planet. Our trust collaborates with schools, institutions, and organizations to collect plastic products and send them to large recycling units.

  • 8 million tons of plastic enter oceans annually—equivalent to one garbage truck per minute.
  • Over 150 million tons of plastic are produced globally each year.
  • Plastic waste kills over 100,000 marine animals annually.
  • Microplastics are in 83% of tap water worldwide, causing health issues.
  • Inhalation of microplastics leads to respiratory and developmental problems.

Why It Matters:

  • Conserves natural resources.
  • Reduces landfill waste.
  • Saves energy and water.
  • Decreases greenhouse gas emissions.

Tree Plantation

Planting trees restores ecological balance. We conduct workshops with schools and organizations, educating students and culminating in tree planting drives.

  • 15% of greenhouse gas emissions come from deforestation.
  • 1 million species face extinction due to habitat loss.
  • 80% of world biodiversity is found in forests.

Why It Matters:

  • Sequesters carbon emissions.
  • Prevents soil erosion.
  • Regulates the water cycle.
  • Conserves biodiversity.
  • Purifies air and water.

Anuradha Charee

Trustee & Vice Chairman

As I reflect on my 40-year journey in the apparel export and retail industry, I am reminded of the valuable lessons I’ve learned. My experience working with multinational companies, foreign firms, and Indian businesses has been enriching. I’ve also had the opportunity to be an entrepreneur, with a joint venture in Belgium.

However, over the past five years, I’ve witnessed a disturbing shift in corporate culture. The younger generation’s aggressive pursuit of success has created toxic work environments, where seniority and experience are disregarded. This trend has been a source of concern for me, as I believe that a humanistic work environment is essential for our mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

The advent of AI has only exacerbated this issue, creating a culture of fear and insecurity. It’s time for us to reevaluate our priorities and recognize that our well-being is intricately linked to our work environment. We started working to live, but the demands of today’s fast-paced world have reversed this notion.

As a practicing Buddhist, I’ve come to realize that our actions have a profound impact on the future of our planet. The alarming rates of global warming, resource depletion, pollution, and climate change are a testament to our recklessness. It’s time for us to awaken to our responsibility as global citizens and take action to save our planet.

This is why I founded Food for Life Trust, with the mission of valuing human resources and creating a humanistic organizational environment while contributing to the betterment of our environment & our planet.

Our goal is to provide hygienic, nutritious meals to those suffering from malnutrition and hunger. We also aim to empower women by providing them with occupation and opportunities to cook healthy meals.

Some startling facts have driven our mission:

  • Hunger kills more people than AIDS, malaria, TB, or any other disease.
  • One in 10 people worldwide face severe food insecurity.

Our objective is to provide meals to 5,000 children and adults daily, increasing to 10,000 lives and more. To achieve this, we seek support from like-minded individuals and organizations. As a CSR-certified trust, donations to Food for Life are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

I invite you to join hands with us to cherish, treasure, respect, nourish, and uplift the lesser-privileged human resources in our environment.

“Together, we can nourish lives and save our planet.”
